Former Duke guard Jeremy Roach has indicated he will play a final college season at Baylor.
The 6-foot-1 guard, who announced last week he was declaring for the NBA draft and entering the transfer portal if he returns to college, made a social media post Sunday with an altered photo of him wearing a Baylor uniform and in the same frame with Bears coach Scott Drew.
Roach started 108 of his 130 games at Duke the past four seasons, averaging 14.0 points and 3.3 assists this season as the Blue Devils advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight. Their season ended with a loss to North Carolina State at the home arena of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks, about 100 miles from the Baylor campus in Waco, Texas.
He has an additional year of eligibility remaining, granted by the NCAA to players who competed during the COVID-19 pandemic season of 2020-21.
Roach was a Duke freshman that year for a 13-11 team that missed the NCAA Tournament, ending the school’s run of 24 straight bids. But Roach became a three-year starter, first for retiring Hall of Fame coach Mike Krzyzewski’s final team that reached the Final Four in 2022 and then the first two seasons under successor Jon Scheyer.
